Healing Is Not Linear, It Is Sacred: A Message for Women of Color
Aja Diack ยท
You thought you healed that. You thought you were done with that pattern, that pain, that wound. And here it is again.
This is not failure. This is how healing works.
The Myth of Linear Progress
We live in a culture obsessed with linear progress. We want to move from A to B to C, from problem to solution, from broken to fixed.
But healing doesn't move in straight lines. It spirals. It circles back. It revisits the same territory at deeper levels.
The Sacred Spiral
Imagine healing as a spiral staircase. You may pass the same window again and again, but each time you're at a higher level. The view is different. You are different.
When an old wound resurfaces, you're not back at the beginning. You're meeting it with new wisdom, new resources, new capacity.
What to Do When It Returns
Acknowledge without shame: "Ah, this again. Hello, old friend."

Notice what's different: How are you meeting this differently than before? What resources do you have now that you didn't have then?
Ask what it needs: What is this old wound asking for? What healing is available now that wasn't available before?
Trust the process: Your psyche knows what it's doing. It brings up what's ready to be healed.
The Gift of Revisiting
Each return to an old wound is an opportunity for deeper healing. Layers that weren't accessible before become accessible now. Parts of you that weren't ready before become ready now.
This is not regression. This is completion.
